Ms. Gaines, a jewelry designer, works largely in semiprecious stones, like rock crystal, labradorite and moonstone. She also incorporates many vintage pendants, chains and findings into her pieces that she has collected from all around the world. During the day, the pendants, chains and earrings that she laboriously fashions by, hand glitter in the sun that pours through the large windows in the studio. At night, under the inviting glow of chandeliers, they look rich and festive.
Since its launch, Shalla Wista Studio has grown into a successful company in the jewelry industry. Laura has worked hard to maintain an impeccable reputation for creating stunning pieces of jewelry that are current, elegant and beautiful.
Shalla Wista Studio represents the most current trends in style and the jewelry industry. That’s because its founder, Laura Gaines, has been a student of fashion for most of her life. Laura’s own sense of style has been flawless, unapologetic and ahead of the curve since childhood. This talent began to show when she went to work for a well known company in her home town of Birmingham, Alabama. As her passion for designing jewelry grew, Laura knew she had to branch out on her own and founded Shalla Wista Studio in April of 2006. And the world has taken notice.
Shalla Wista Studio has been featured in both local and national magazines such as: Woman’s Wear Daily, Southern Lady and Birmingham Metro. Perhaps even more impressive is the notoriety Shalla Wista Studio is receiving in Hollywood. The movie “Something Borrowed,” released May 2011, stars actresses Ginnifer Goodwin and Kate Hudson; both of whom will feature jewelry created by Laura and Shalla Wista Studio throughout the film.
